To make fried arepas, you will need the following ingredients:

1 cup of precooked cornmeal,

1 cup of warm water,

1 teaspoon of salt,

1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.

First, mix the cornmeal, salt, and warm water in a bowl until well combined. The dough should be firm and not too sticky. If the dough is too wet, you can add a little more cornmeal to the mixture.

Next, divide the dough into equal-sized balls and flatten them into rounds about 1/2-inch thick. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the arepas to the pan and fry them for about 3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Remove the arepas from the pan and let them cool for a few minutes before serving. You can serve them plain or with your favorite toppings, such as cheese, avocado, or beans. Enjoy!

Difference between Tacos and Arepas

Tacos and arepas are both traditional foods that originated in Latin America. Tacos are a Mexican dish that typically consists of a small corn or flour tortilla that is filled with a variety of ingredients, such as meat, cheese, vegetables, and salsa. Arepas, on the other hand, are a Colombian and Venezuelan dish that is made from precooked cornmeal dough that is shaped into rounds and grilled or fried.

One of the main differences between tacos and arepas is the type of dough that is used to make them. Tacos are made with either corn or flour tortillas, while arepas are made with precooked cornmeal dough. This gives arepas a denser and more compact texture compared to tacos.

Another difference is the way that they are cooked. Tacos are typically cooked by grilling or frying the tortillas and then filling them with the desired ingredients. Arepas, on the other hand, are usually cooked by grilling or frying the dough rounds and then slicing them open to add the filling.

In terms of flavor, tacos and arepas are also quite different. Tacos tend to have a more complex and flavorful taste, thanks to the wide variety of ingredients that can be used as fillings, as well as the various sauces and seasonings that are typically added. Arepas, on the other hand, have a more subtle and straightforward flavor, since the dough itself is not flavored and the fillings are usually simple and not too spicy.

Overall, tacos and arepas are two tasty and satisfying dishes that offer a unique culinary experience. While they have some similarities, they are also quite different in terms of their ingredients, cooking methods, and flavor profiles
